ALGEMENE REëLS VIR KOSGANGERS


  1. Kosgangers moet aan die begin van die skooljaar, op die middag wat die eerste skooldag voorafgaan, by die koshuis aanmeld. Leerders word op hierdie dag vanaf 14:00 tot 17:00 ontvang. Geen leerder word toegelaat alvorens die deposito en eerste paaiement betaal is nie.

  2. Telefoon: Op weekdae mag kosgangers oproepe ontvang gedurende die tye 15:30 en 16:00; 18:00 tot 18:45; 21:00 tot 21:15.

  3. Kosgangers mag selfone besit. Die koshuisbestuur aanvaar geen verantwoordeliheid vir leerders se selfone nie. Selfone moet gedurende etenstye, studietye en gedurende slaaptyd (21:40 – 06:15) afgeskakel(nie net op ‘silent’nie) wees en mag nie skool toe geneem word nie, of moet gedurende amptelike skoolure by die kantoor ingehandig wees. Indien daar nie aan bostaande voldoen word nie, sal die selfoon vir 10 skooldae gekonfiskeer word. Dit kan teen R5 per dag vroeër as die voorgeskrewe 10 dae afgekoop wprd.

  4. Op die Sondag van ‘n naweek word leerders weer tot die koshuis toegelaat tussen 18:00 en 19:30.

  5. Gedurende skoolvakansies en naweke is die koshuis gesluit. Indien leerders van eie vervoer gebruik maak, moet hulle teen 14:30 op die laaste gehaal word.

  6. Indien leerders die Maandagoggend wil terugkeer, moet hulle betyds wees vir die skool se begin. Leerders moet in volle skooluniform geklee wees wanneer hulle die koshuis verlaat en weer terugkeer.

  7. Skriftelike toestemming word vereis indien leerders saam met ander persone as hul ouers reis, of na ander bestemmings as hul ouerhuis gaan. Hierdie toestemmingsbriewe moet die skool teen die Donderdag voor ‘n naweek bereik en mag per faks gestuur word.

  8. Op Maandagmiddae en Donderdagmiddae mag die kosgangers gedurende vasgestelde tye in die dorp gaan inkopies doen.

  9. Alle klere en beddegoed moet duidelik gemerk wees met naamstrokies of spesiale merkpenne - bv. Pieter de Klerk.

  10. Sakgeld en waardevolle artikels word deur die Superintendent bewaar. Indien waardevolle artikels, insluitende geld, in die kamers gehou word, aanvaar die koshuisbestuur geen verantwoordelikheid daarvoor nie. Daar word aanbeveel dat ouers vir leerders ‘n spaarrekening by enige van die erkende handelsbanke open. Franschhoek beskik oor OTM’s (outomatiese tellermasjiene).

  11. T-hemde met slagspreuke of motiewe wat moontlik aanstoot kan gee of die skool in 'n swak lig kan plaas, word ten strengste verbied.

  12. Elke nuwe kosganger moet sorg dat hy/sy 'n slot met twee sleutels saambring om die privaatheid van sy kasinhoud te verseker.

  13. Dit word verwag dat elke kosganger aan ten minste een somersport en een wintersport sal deelneem.

  14. Dit is streng verbode vir leerders om in die koshuis te rook. Die skool ontmoedig leerders om hierdie skadelike gewoonte aan te kweek.

  15. Die koshuis beskik oor openbare telefone wat met beide muntstukke en telefoonkaarte werk.

  16. Leerders sal slegs toegelaat word om geblokte prente (posters) in hulle kamers te hang. Geen prente of plakkate mag direk teen die mure met wondergom of ander middels geplak word nie

  17. Ouers van kosgangers moet die skool een kalender kwartaal vooraf in kennis stel indien die leerders onttrek gaan word. Versuim om betyds kennis van onttrekking te gee, sal veroorsaak dat die ouer aanspreeklik sal bly vir die volle losiesgeld van die volgende kwartaal.


GENERAL RULES FOR BOARDERS

  1. Boarders who join at the start of a year must please report between the hours of 14:00 and 17:00 on the afternoon preceding a term. No learner will be admitted unless the deposit has been paid plus the first months boarding fees.

  2. Telephone: On weekdays parents may phone between 15:30 and 16:00; as well as between 18:00 and 18:45; and 21:00 and 21:15.

  3. Boarders may have cell phones. Hostel management, however, will not take any responsibility for such phones. Cell phones must be switched off (not just on silent) during meals, study and sleeping time (21:40 – 06:15). Cell phones may also not be taken to school, or if necessary, must be handed in at the office for the duration of the official school day. If the boarder does not abide by these rules, the cell phone will be confiscated for 10 school days. However, it may be bought back earlier at R20 for every day taken before the 10 day expires.

  4. The staff will be on duty on the Sunday of a weekend from 18:00 until 19:00 to sign children in.

  5. During school holidays and weekends the hostel is closed. Parents are requested to fetch their children on weekends before 14:30 if they do not travel by school bus. The hostel staff will be on duty to let learners into the hostel from Sundays at 18:00. All learners wishing to return on the Sunday should be in by 19:30. Learners returning on the Monday must return in time for school. Boarders must travel to and from the hostel in full school uniform.

  6. Learners must go home during weekends unless they have school commitments.

  7. Written permission is required for learners travelling with anyone other than their own parents, or for visiting friends. This permission, which may be faxed, must reach the school on the Thursday preceding the particular weekend.

  8. On Monday and Thursday afternoons, boarders are allowed to go into the village to do some shopping during set times.

  9. All clothing and bed linen must be clearly marked with name tapes or with special marking pens please - e.g. John le Clerc.

  10. Money and valuable items should be handed in to the Superintendent for safekeeping. If any such items are kept in the room, the hostel committee will not be held responsible for any loss. Parents are advised to open a savings account for children at any of the commercial banks. ATM facilities are available in Franschhoek.

  11. T-shirts decorated with slogans and motives which could cause offence or put the school in a bad light are absolutely forbidden.

  12. Every new boarder must have a lock with two keys, in order to ensure privacy of his/her cupboard. One key must be marked and handed in at the office.

  13. Boarders are compelled to take part in at least one summer sport and one winter sport.

  14. It is absolutely forbidden for boarders to smoke in the hostel. The school discourages pupils to fall into this dangerous habit.

  15. Boarders will only be allowed to hang mounted pictures in the rooms. No pictures and posters are allowed directly on the wall with prestik.

  16. Parents of boarders must give one school term’s notice of withdrawal of their children from the hostel. Failure to do so will result in those parents being billed for another term.
